So much has happened! Most importantly is the addition of not one, but TWO new babies.<br />Claire gave birth to Cullen Jack Bryan Lethaby on 21st January. What a gorgeous wee tot he is! Now he's 8 months old he always has lots of smiles for his adoring Aunty. He loves being around his people and is quite content just sitting and watching his CRAZY big brother Quinn. <br />

The newest addition is Lara Therese Bartlett, born September 12th to Catkin and Gavin at home in Queenstown. Another gorgeous daughter to add to their beautiful collection. Gavin has sent through a picture and Aunty Apes and Aunty D are planning a trip down to Queenstown for Labour Weekend (end of October) to meet her. Nana (Mum) is presently down there on Nana duty.<br />

<br />Welcome to the family, Cullen and Lara! We're so lucky to have you.<br />
<br />
I too have a new baby, a four legged kind. Nine year old Baxta has come to live with me for his retirement. He's been here for nearly 3 weeks now and it's working out beautifully! Way better than I expected. He sleeps in his bed in my room all night and doesn't get up until I get up. He LOVES visitors - although he barks initially to let me know, and to let them know just how fierce he is (yeah, right). He snores slightly which I think is cute and my favourite thing about him is when I come home he is by the door, hunched down, shaking with excitement, little tail wagging. Currently looking for a guy who gets THIS excited to see me. <br />

It's been an eventful year so far. Mum, Dad and I purchased a house together which is brilliant. A place for them to base themselves when they are down here, and a home for me. They have PROMISED me it is a win/win situation for all parties. I moved in on the last weekend of March which just happened to coincide with a visit from the Clouston's (Kathryn and Alan) as luck would have it! And much to their delight, I am sure. I had the A Team helping me move and we were done by 10.30am. Result!</div>

It's a unit - one of two - with single garages in between. Two double bedrooms (real doubles too!) and a single room/office off the back of the garage. A small outdoor area with a patch of grass. Lounge, dining room, kitchen, laundry, bathroom, and separate toilet. Perfect! Very warm and has two heat pumps for extra warmth when needed. I know I'll be very happy here.<br />I had a friend renting the spare room during the week, while working in Chch, and heading back to her home in Ashburton on the weekends. It was the perfect set up. But her tennents moved out and she has 3 small dogs so had to move back home and commute. Leaving me flatmate-less. I love living by myself but the extra money is handy. So my ol' mate Eru talked me in to Airbnb. If you haven't heard of it before, have a look here <a href="http://www.airbnb.com/">www.airbnb.com</a> <br />The perfect solution to be able to rent out the room but also have it available for when anyone comes to stay. So far I have had two couples come to stay, both for a week. The couple currently here are from Perth, Scotland so of course I can fluently converse with them in Scottish. Ha! AND they are keen to stay on a bit longer after they return from their trip up North. So far it's working out brilliantly.<br />
Mum and Dad have both been down for visits this year. Mum was down in July for about 10 days. Always so nice to have her close. And Dad came down at the end of August for 6 days so help me (and when I say 'help me' I mean 'do it all himself') fix up the yard. I am VERY impressed with the outcome. So much better than expected AND we added things to the list as we went. <br />So I now have a shed, vertical herb garden, clothesline, small and large raised garden beds. VERY happy. Dad did a brilliant job. And managed to have quality Grandad time with his grandsons too.<br /><br />

Had a lovely visit from the Southern Barts for Queens Birthday weekend in June. So lovely to have them here and they got to meet Cullen. Annabelle wasn't very well unfortunately, but we had a great time even though the weather was pretty miserable. The weather cleared up on the Monday, the day that the Southern Barts were leaving. Typical! It was a great weekend full of gorgeousness.</div>

A big shout out to Averil/Aunty Apes/Mrs Metcalfe who is Team Leader of her syndicate this year and is doing an amazing job! Woop Woop! <br /><br />My marriage celebrant work has been going really well and I love it! I have my 7th wedding next weekend and 8 booked between now and March next year. Yay! I've been doing a course this year to learn how to write ceremonies. I have done two modules and have one more to do in November and then will receive a certificate in Celebrancy. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have a visit to a crematorium on Sunday as part of my personal development. I am not currently doing funerals (because I cry like a baby, even if I don't know the person, and that's not a good look for a celebrant) but I am interested to know the procedures.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And that mostly sums up our year so far..... I think.... Hopefully I haven't missed out anything.<br />Tune in next time.... which hopefully won't be so long next time.</div>

It had been a whole year since we were last there! So Friday morning I picked up Averil nice and early and we hit the road just after 7.30am - hoping to make it in time for Annabelle's school assembly at 2.15pm. The drive was great. Averil had prepared 6 hours of stories and chat to keep us entertained as the CD player in my car was not ejecting the current CD but was still playing it - which would get very boring very quickly. And the radio only works until Ashburton and then gets static. It was a beautiful day for a drive. <br />We managed to make it to Queenstown, and to St Joseph's School with 10 minutes to spare. Annabelle's class sang a few songs and Annabelle got an award for 'Getting Things Done Quickly'. I was so proud I clapped... no one else did.<br />

<br /><br />Then we got a tour of Annabelle's class (by the award winning student herself) before heading home for some afternoon tea. <br /><br />Saturday morning we went with Annabelle to her ballet class. She decided to just watch this time and perhaps join in the following week. Aunty Apes and I both decided that all the things the other little girls in the class were doing Annabelle could easily do. So hopefully she did join in the next time.<br />

<br />Saturday afternoon was a bit chilly (for us Northern folk, at least) and drizzly so we watched The Sound Of Music - the sing-a-long edition. Annabelle knows all the words. And everyone knows how I like a good sing-song! Hazel fell asleep within the first 30 minutes. Just like Grandad. And apparently Mummy. Poppy watched a little bit and then did her own thing. We also realised how similar looking Hazel and Gretl von Trapp are!<br />

Gavin was busy all day Saturday working on the new deck (which I got no photos of sorry!) and it is looking great! <br />As always the weekend went far too quickly but was lots of fun. Those wee girls are not so wee anymore and are growing into, beautiful, independent little people. Such a joy to be around. <br />So after lots of drawing, reading, and cuddles we headed off just after 9am on Sunday morning to head back to Christchurch. Another stunning day for a drive. And 6 more hours of chit chat for me and Averil! I think if one of the catagories at quiz night was 'Things About Averil' we would definitely win.<br /><br />Thanks Southern Barts for another great weekend!</div>

The cutest big boy in Christchurch turns 2 years old! How did that happen? Time certainly flies when you're having fun!! Congratulations to Mummy (Claire) and Daddy (Scott) for being fabulous parents and creating this loving, funny, mischievous, clever, beautiful, little man. He fills my heart with such joy and is an absolute pleasure to be around. <br /><br />We had a little party at home for him on Saturday with family which was fantastic. If you don't already know, Quinn has a slight fixation with horses (neigh neighs). He was very spoilt on Saturday and got some NEW neigh neighs as his original favourite has only 4 half legs - very much loved. It was a great afternoon and Quinn was a trooper.<br />

In that 6 months I have come up with a list of things that nobody warned me about. I guess it's my duty to forewarn those who are yet to reach this milestone so you can go in with your eyes WIDE open.<br />Here goes - some are good and some not so good<br />
<br />
1 Hair dye needs to be applied more frequently<br />
2 I need to use spot control AND wrinkle cream<br />
3 When people say 'middle aged' they might mean me<br />
4 I can't wear sequins for fear of looking like a sparkly mutton dressed as lamb<br />
5 Waking up in the middle of the night to go to the toilet (at least I'm waking up!)<br />
6 Always so tired<br />
7 Wishing I had taken naked photos of myself when I was 25<br />
8 Sitting in a waiting room I reach for Home & Garden magazines rather than Cosmopolitan<br />
9 Realising I'm probably never going to be a Solid Gold Dancer<br />
10 Going out without make up on is a crime against humanity<br />
11 The 'me' in my head is like a foxy younger sister of the 'me' in the mirror<br />
12 I choose comfort over style... always<br />
13 Have finally realised that life is NOT like an 80's movie<br />
14 Other than the royals and the Kardashian's I don't recognise anyone in the tabloids<br />
15 Ages 31-39 feels like one year. I'm scared I'll blink and be 180!<br />
16 The 'Real Housewives' are the same age as me<br />
17 I still think 20 something year old guys are hot... and they're like 'Mum?'<br />
18 I get a hangover just looking at alcohol<br />
19 And hangovers last for 2 days<br />
20 The next milestone birthday is 50<br />
21 I walk into a room and forget what I went in there for, only to remember as soon as I return to my starting point<br />
22 I've given up believing that I will one day get into a size 10<br />
23 No tolerance for teenagers<br />
24 If I bought a turtle it might out live me<br />
25 EVERYTHING has to be written down<br />
26 Tea is my drink of choice<br />
27 I'm half way to 80! HALF WAY!!<br />
28 I've finally learnt to say no and not feel bad about it (this is awesome)<br />
29 My metabolism died with my 30's<br />
30 The state of the planet makes me furious<br />
31 People ask me for advice - and I feel able to give it<br />
32 Meeting new friends and then realising I'm the same age as their parents<br />
33 Hearing about school friends becoming GRANDPARENTS<br />
34 Dating website match criteria age is now 40-50 (but they look 50-60!)<br />
35 Being older than ALL the All Blacks<br />
36 Sitting on the couch has become preferable to basically every other activity in life<br />
37 I don't worry so much about things I have no control over<br />
38 Spontaneous girls nights out have to carefully planned weeks in advance <br />
39 The people in my life are there because I want them to be (this is a good thing)<br />
40 Not getting asked for ID every time I buy wine at the supermarket (this is both good and bad)<br />
<br />

It has been 16 MONTHS since my last blog update. And in that time I have.....<br /><br />Big apologies for the massive delay in updating. Thanks for all your prompts to keep writing (Mum). So, over a year has passed. Bare with me and I will cast my mind back to find the best bits to report. Possibly in an abridged form.<br /><br />Right, let's see. Let's start with the Southern Barts. Annabelle turned 5 in January and started school. She's such a big girl now. She sounds like she is enjoying it and even catches the bus there some days. She is riding her bike now WITHOUT training wheels.<br /><br />

Hazel is a big 3 year old now and is such a good big sister to Poppy. She has moved over to the big room at Montessori Preschool and is doing really well. I love her cuddles and she is always a real character.<br />Poppy is GORGEOUS! She has grown so much and is walking, or should I say RUNNING around to catch up to her big sisters. <br />

The SB's went on a holiday last year to the UK - the first time the girls had been there. Lots of catching up with Grandad Bob, Nana Sue, and Grannie Annie, as well as the girls cousins, and meeting new people. Gavin flew back home after 4 weeks (I think that's right?) and Catkin and the girls stayed on for longer. Gavin and Catkin are doing a fab job of raising their 3 gorgeous girls. Gavin had shoulder surgery in August and is recovering well.<br />
<br />
The Lethaby's are doing well and, in exciting news, are expecting a little addition to the family in February. Exciting!! Quinn turned 1 last November and will be a brilliant big brother. He is a cool wee guy and makes me laugh every time I see him. Claire is back at work for 3 days a week and is able to take Quinn with her - he is in the nursery and she is in the preschool, which works perfectly. Scott is busy with his own Farrier business and is doing really well. <br />

<br />The Metcalfe's (or as I like to call them, the Metty's) are busy and well. They have taken on a foster pup, Lulu, who has slotted into their family nicely with their two older dogs, Hippo and Tank. Averil is a top notch teacher who works hard to do the best for her class and Eru is studying and working part time. <br />

The Mama's and The Papa's haven't yet migrated to the South Island! Both have turned 65 this year (sorry Mum, I mean 21!) and are still working hard. They had a lovely mid-year holiday to Norfolk Island in July this year and thoroughly enjoyed it. Mum is still enjoying work, although I personally think her favourite job is being a Nana. And she is soooo good at it!<br />

The Clouston's are still in Auckland and have just adopted two fur babies. Mouse and Scrappy are their two little kittens. Bless. Moos (aka Alan) resigned from Barter Card and is setting up his own business and Kitty (aka Kathryn) is working hard in marketing. Always nice to see them when I go North!<br />

And then there was one. I have had a bit of a roller coaster year (FYI I am NOT a fan of roller coasters!). I resigned from my job at Carter Holt Harvey after 8 years. It wasn't a particularly nice situation but one of the managers was a complete 'twit' (this is the word Mum used to describe him, I'm not inclined to be so polite and use words that rhyme with banker, stick, and trucker!) and in my view was a bully and made it almost unbearable to stay. So, with my head held high, I left at the end of January for pastures unknown. I took 3 weeks to put myself back together and started working part time as a merchandiser for Wattie's in February, which I'm really enjoying. The mornings are early starts but I get to finish early which I love as I get more time for me. I am also still doing Intimo which has been going alright but there is ALWAYS room for improvement, and I have just become a marriage and civil union celebrant. Exciting! My first firm booking is on January 3rd. Eek!<br />I also turned the ripe old age of 40 (still a little hard to say out loud) in April and decided to celebrate with a shindig. It was fantastic! Lots of fun and people really made an effort to come which I was very humbled by. <br />

I took a holiday in June to Rarotonga - if you haven't been and are looking for a real 'Island Holiday' I can highly recommend it. All we did was sleep, eat, drink, swim, and sit in the sun. Eight days of bliss!<br />

In other, not so nice news, our dear Uncle Bryan (Mum's oldest brother) passed away on August 3rd of this year. Such a gentle, kind man who will be sorely missed. Averil and I flew up for the funeral, as did the Southern Barts. So although the circumstances weren't very nice, it was lovely to see and catch up with family.</div>

So now you are up to date. What better way to mark this special occasion than by welcoming my third wee niece to the family. Gavin and Catkin had another successful home birth on the morning of May 2nd. Poppy Mae weighed in at 7lb 11oz and is gorgeous, so relaxed, and is happy chilling out with her older sisters around. <br />

I am lucky enough to be in Queenstown for two weeks helping out where I can with the two older girls who are fun and funny. Annabelle is now 4 years old and is very good at writing and counting. Hazel is 2 years old and is very determined and hilarious! Her favourite song is 'Row Row Row Your Boat' but the way she sings it makes her sound like a football hooligan! They are quite different but compliment each other nicely. Hazel is starting to look a lot more like Annabelle now. When we were in The Warehouse on Friday a nice couple commented on how beautiful 'my daughters' were. Yes, I did correct them.</div>
We've been doing all sorts of fun things - colouring in, reading stories, and drawing on ourselves (the girls, not me). Annabelle and Hazel go to Montessouri Preschool on Tuesdays and Thursdays so I have been trying to use my down time productively. Last week I cleaned the kitchen and the fridge. Today I cleaned the inside of the windows. <br />

Mum was down in Christchurch for a week during April which lovely. She spent a week at Claire and Scott's before heading down to Queenstown for a week and happened to be on location for the birth of Poppy, much to everyone's delight.</div>
While she was in Christchurch I turned another year older - it is the big round number before another big BIG number. I find it hard to say it out loud. It was a lovely day and we had a nice lunch out at the Raspberry Cafe in Tai Tapu. I was very spoilt and felt the love. <br />Mum loved spending time with her wee grandson, Quinn, who is such a happy little felly. I have been missing him since being in Queenstown so Claire has been sending me through photo updates daily, which I LOVE.<br />

I managed to get up North for the weekend just gone. My bestie Kristine was having her 40th birthday party in Warkworth and, as we all know, there's no party without Punch!! It was good to get up there after what feels like AGES (November was the last time I was in Warkworth). Mum and Dad swapped with me and spent the weekend in Queenstown so I was on hand to feed Mum's fur babies. The party had a 70's theme and was fantastic. Lots of fun and catching up. <br />

I also managed to get to see Aunty Mary, Uncle Fraser, and Heather, as well as Uncle Bryan and Aunty Bev which was lovely. Unfortunately I ran out of time to see Uncle David and Helen but hope to catch up with them next time I'm up. </div>

Now I'm back in Queenstown for the rest of this week and will be driving back to Christchurch on Saturday, back to reality. I have really enjoyed my time away from the office and realise how EASY my day job is! I will miss the knocks on the bathroom door and little voices calling out 'Aunty D!' and my little wriggly alarm clocks coming into my bed in the morning. But mostly I will miss the cuddles and the 'I love you' that I've been getting lots of so I'm going to get my yearly quota over the next few days to get me through til I see them again which may not be until Christmas. Sob sob.</div>

It's all electronic and takes your photo, then prints out a visitors sticker for the visitor to wear while they are on the premises. <br />
Once the visitor has signed in an email is automatically sent to the email address of whoever they are here to visit. Very flash for us.<br />
Yesterday I got this email.<br />

<strong><br /></strong>I sprinted down to reception - knowing full well that Richard Hampton (my work bestie) would be standing there, almost doubled over, laughing at his own joke. How does that work? Well, it doesn't really. My mind is quick and foxlike but my body is generally the lazy dog. I need to get in sync!<br />
I realise I have been very, very slack with updating. Thanks for all your emails and requests for an update (thanks Mum). Now.... let me think...... cast my mind back....<br />
<br />
Intimo has been going well. I've had 1-2 parties a week lately and last month had an open home after 3 parties fell over. I employed Averil for the day to help with greeting guests, making teas and coffees, and generally helping out. I sent out over 170 invites to all past customers and opened up my home for 4 hours for ladies to pop in for a cuppa and a look at the new boutique releases. About 20 ladies made it along and sales were $2689.00 + $390 in cash sales from ex-boutique items no longer available. A brilliant day. Averil got the hostess credits and was able to choose $377 worth of product for her precious time. I think she was happy with that. It was really worthwhile and I plan to do it again in December.<br />
March turned out to be my best personal volume month to date with just under $7000 in sales for the month. Result!<br />
<br />
Quinn is doing so well and growing big.... and strong. His little legs are SO strong. He always has lots of smiles and chatter for his adoring Aunties, which we love. Scott and Claire took Quinn on his first plane trip up to Nana & Grandad's in Warkworth for Easter. Mum said he was all smiles and such a happy little fella. And was really good on the flights to and from also - which was worrying Claire slightly (understandably). There's been a lot of talk on Stuff Nation where readers can 'have their say' about children's behaviour in public and on aeroplanes. Some people are so unsympathetic towards babies making any sort of noise on plane journeys. I, for one, am VERY sympathetic. I remember how much my ears used to hurt during flights and feel sorry for the parents who do the best they can in the cramped spaces they have.<br />
I digress. Quinn got introduced to all the Aunties and Uncles up North and they all had a great time.<br />

Averil and I set off on Good Friday for a roadie to Queenstown to stay with the Southern Barts. Such fun! Catkin was a wonderful hostess (as always) and Gavin was a great host. Only 5 weeks to go until the newest Southern Bart arrives. Exciting!! Any guesses on sex/weight/date of delivery? </div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
Aunty Apes and Aunty D has lots of fun playing, reading, and generally spending time with the mini Southern Barts. They are GORGEOUS! Lots of huggles, which I love. <br />
Easter Bunny left an Easter Egg hunt in the garden and right down the driveway to the letterbox. That was fun! It was really lovely to be able to spend two full days with them before driving back to Christchurch on Easter Monday.</div>

<br />
Cousin Alex has started salmon fishing over the past few months and invited me around for a fresh salmon dinner with him and his flatmates a wee while ago. It was delicious! Cooked to perfection. A really great night with good company and fantastic food.<br />
<br />
I had my Bi-Annual Templeton housesitting stint for 10 days in February which was nice and relaxing. We had the World-Famous-In-Templeton Rent-A-Crowd Pub Crawl which, as always, was a blast. All girls this time - so more like a fun Hens night! Really glad it was on a Friday night so I had two days to recover. Actually, everyone suprisingly seemed to be feeling fine the next day.<br />
<br />
Daylight savings ended this morning which means Winter is fast approaching. Some of us have been up for hours. Averil & Eru picked me up at 6.45am this morning to go to a live taping of What Now? - a children's show which has been going for 32 years. They have a segment called Target Your Teacher and Averil was invited to go on it. Once strapped to a massive wheel she was asked 5 questions - two of which she got right which meant her students got foamed and three she got wrong which got her spun on the wheel and foamed. Eru and I weren't actually allowed in the audience - children only - so we sat in the green room and got free breakfast and cups of tea. A great start to a Sunday morning.<br />

Already over half way through the first month and there have been highs and lows. <br />
<br />
The worst low being that a guy from our despatch department at work collapsed yesteday at work. Our first aid officers did CPR on him until the ambulance arrived and he was taken to hospital - not breathing. He spent the night in Trauma and suffered a few heart attacks which the hospital staff could not help with much except to make him as comfortable as possible. He was moved to ICU and was on life support today while waiting for all of his family to arrive to say their good byes before the life support machine was switched off. Sadly Terry passed away tonight. A very big shock as he was only 55.<br />

The high being that I went to Melbourne for the Intimo January conference. It was a very quick trip - flew over on Thursday morning and back on Friday night - but it was brilliant! The key note speakers were very inspirational. I have come home with goals and plans for the year ahead. My first goal is to make it to July conference on the Gold Coast, Australia. It's no small task as I have to make just over $38,000 in sales before the last day of June to qualify. But I am putting little steps in place now and have broken it down into months (which isn't quite so overwhelming) so will at least give it a good go. Fingers crossed that everyone wants new bras for the new year!</div>

Now, let me think..... ah yes, so I had a crochet lesson with our friend Lynnie a wee while ago. I'm not very gifted in woolcraft so Lynnie had her work cut out for her (I've never really got that saying - if your work is already cut out, wouldn't that make it easier? Apparently not). I managed to make a baby's hat. There are a few 'bubbles' and a 'vent hole' in the top but other than that it's perfect! Lucky old Claire and Scott were gifted it. I bet they are so pleased. Ha ha. Not surprisingly, I haven't seen Quinn wear it yet. Crocheting is a lot harder than it looks.<br />
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
My Intimo business has been ticking along nicely. For the past few months I've been doing quite a few parties out in Springfield/Darfield/Sheffield area which have been very successful. My first party out there was my personal best with just over $2000 in sales! Result! There are a lovely group of ladies out there - very welcoming and friendly. And really nice community feeling. I have another one out there next month. which will be about my 8th. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also qualified for the Intimo Melbourne conference during November which I am quite proud of. $32,500 in sales since 1st January gets me a trip to the 1 day conference in Melbourne. They are really good fun and informative apparently so I'm looking forward to it. I also receive a box of 50, yes, 50! ex-boutique items to use as hostess incentives and gifts which I am REALLY looking forward to opening. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was lucky enough to receive free tickets to the Rugby in August. It was Canterbury vs Auckland (I think!). Averil came with me as my + one and we had a great time. We also got a meal and drinks before the game. The actual game was a bit boring, and there was no Richie to swoon over, but Averil won a signed jersey so we were pretty happy about that. Something a bit different for a week night.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
At the end of August Averil and Eru had their housewarming. It was a great evening with some of their neighbours there too. AND a new addition to the family was 8 week old Hippo - a Boxer/Lab cross puppy. Sooooo cute and sooooo little. I didn't even notice him for the first 10 minutes as he was fast asleep on his bed. Plum tuckered out from all the excitement!! </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Claire snuck in a birthday too. The day before a group of about 12 of us went out to the Raspberry Cafe for lunch before going daffodil picking at Hadstock Gardens in Leeston. Fill your own bucket for $10 - bargain!! Averil and I shared a bucket and got HEAPS of daffodils. I took a bunch to work the next day to brighten up the office. It's funny how people smile and liven up when they see flowers.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In September we threw a baby shower for Claire. Mum, Kathryn, Catkin, and the girls made the trip to Chch for the weekend to join in the celebrations. It was a great afternoon - we managed to sit outside under the gazebo and have a high-tea with cups and saucers and everything. It was a nice way to spend the afternoon. I hosted the Southern Bart ladies and LOVED it. Waking up at 6am on a Saturday wasn't so bad having little people there to entertain. (or did they entertain me?)</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Our Tall Poppies Intimo team had a stand at the Women's Expo this year in October. Two full days - so we had a 2 hour slot each day to tend the stand. One of our consultants from Rotorua came down and I hosted her. I had met her a couple of times before and we got on like a house on fire! Lots of laughs and wine drinking (when we weren't working) it was much fun!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I managed to get 12 leads for bookings so it was well worth it. Gillian made a sale and got a good idea of how to do her Rotorua stall for next year. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Richie McCaw's autobiography, 'The Open Side', came out in October and he had book signings all over Christchurch. This was my chance! So, with Averil as my wingman, we went to The Warehouse, Blenheim Road, at 11.15am to let him meet me. Unfortunately so did about 2000 other people. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now, my plan was to meet him, tell him my name, and get a photo with him. THEN I was going to unleash the Tap & Turn on him (ask him to kiss me on the cheek and then turn at the last minute so he actually gets my lips - an oldie, but a goodie!) but as it turned out he was signing only. No photos. No personalised messages in the book. Just signing. That foiled plan A so we had to quickly move to plan B which in my mind went like this:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
RM - Hi. How are you? </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
DB - Good thank you Richie. My name is Danielle. It's lovely to meet you.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
But in reality went a little something like this:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
RM - Hi. How are you?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
DB - Good thanks.... (giggle giggle giggle)<giggle giggle="giggle"></giggle></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The end</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
BUT we then went with plan B2. Seeing as we had followed the car carrying the Mighty McCaw into the car park on our arrival, we knew which one was his SO I popped one of my Intimo business cards under the window wiper so he can call me. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
..... and a little girl waits....</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Also in October Claire, Scott and I got invited to an Intimo colleague's engagement party. Averil and Eru were also invited but were away for the weekend. Claire very kindly offered to be our sober driver (being that she is off the booze while growing a baby - very handy!). When we arrived and read the poster on the door we realised that it wasn't an engagement party as we had been told but a WEDDING party! Maria and Sachin had secretly got married at her Dad's house during the day. I was blown away. What a great surprise! I was absolutely honoured to have been invited and SO pleased I had taken a present. Phew! It was a great night. I think I was in shock for most of the night. Good shock. They have been together for about 12 years and only got engaged about 3 months ago but are off to live in Goa where Sachin is from, next year so wanted to get married before they went. Unfortunately none of Sachin's family could make it over for the wedding but I am SURE there will be some celebrations when they get to Goa.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Mum and Dad came down for a weekend in November to meet their new Grandson when he was just 10 days old. Dad seemed quite impressed with how quiet Quinn was. It was only a quick trip but so lovely to see them again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Averil also turned another year older on 27th November so we had a little pre birthday dinner for her on the Saturday while Mum and Dad were down, and then another one on her actual birthday. Hopefully she felt spoilt and loved. xx</div>

And yes, I know I should have updated a LOT sooner. But, can I just say, it was a fantastic day!<br />
Kathryn looked absolutely gorgeous and Moos scrubbed up pretty well too. <br />
The morning was raining which is never good for a brides nerves on her outdoor wedding day. But someone must have been watching over us as the rain stopped for the ceremony and after drink/nibbles, and then started again once we were on on our way to the reception. <br />
The reception was FUN! They had hired a photo booth which was the most fun I'd had in AGES (clearly I need to get out more). The DJ was awesome. Everyone looked to be having a brilliant time AND I caught the bouquet!! That's right, I'm next!! (Unless Annabelle beats me up the alter - which is actually looking quite likely). Dear Uncle Bryan came up to me afterwards and said he wanted to be the first to congratulate me. Ha ha. Bless.<br />
The whole night was a blast. Thanks Kitten and Moos for having such a great excuse for us all to get together again and throwing a fantastic party! xx<br />
<br />
I'll let the photos tell the beautiful story.....<br />

<br />
Averil and I, being the doting Aunties, went up to the hospital after work to sit and wait and could hear the effort Claire was making. It sounded like a LOT of hard work. We were silently cheering her on and then gave out a big 'Whoop whoop' when we heard the baby cry. Such an exciting time for us. Such an exhausting time for the parents!<br />
<br />
We were delighted and honoured to get to meet Quinn when he was less than an hour old. He is perfect! So small, and so beautiful. He slept the whole time while cuddling with his Aunties.<br />
<br />
So proud of you Claire - you are a star!!<br />
xx<br />

August went by in a blur! I know I keep saying it but I can't believe how fast this year is flying by. It's almost scary.</div>
<br />
Old Man Gav turned 40 on 24th August so, being the sneaky sneakster I am I organised a trip down to surprise him for his birthday. He already knew that Mum and Dad were flying in but what he didn't know was that Kathryn was flying with them, Claire and I were driving from Christchurch, and Averil was flying down the following morning.<br />
<br />
Being a guy who has everything, we had to put on our thinking caps for what to get Gavin for his milestone birthday. With the help of Catkin's brilliant ideas we came up with a hot air balloon flight over Queenstown, for Gavin to take when it suits, and their Camelriders blog published into a book. Result! It all came together nicely and I think Gavin liked them both.<br />

On the Saturday night Catkin and Gavin had organised for Hazel to be christened which we were all very pleased to be able to witness. It poured with rain but luckily it didn't affect any plans we had. Hazel was so good through her christening - she hardly made a peep.</div>

Averil and I set off for the long drive home on Sunday morning, diving via the airport to drop Kathryn off for her flight on the way. We stopped in at Twizel to visit Eru's sister who is nearly due to have a little baby girl. We made it back to Christchurch safe and sound, and a little weary, around 4pm.</div>

Kathryn very kindly picked us up from the airport and let us borrow her new car - a birthday present from Moos - to get up to Warkworth for the night. Bless her.<br /><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div>Warkworth never changes much, which is fine by me. It's always so nice to go back to familiar surroundings. And to get Mum hugs.</div><br /><br /><div>The plan was to head back to Auckland after lunch on the Saturday and spend a few hours with Kathryn before her Henny started at 5pm. So, making good use of my time, I went and visited the Letchers (Kristine, Derek, and William) for the morning. William will be 1 on 14th August so we had a little pre-birthday morning tea. He is just delicious and SO content and cuddly. I love him. I always think that first birthday parties are more for the parents to say 'Phew! We made it through the first year!' They are having a family lunch for him this Sunday. It was a lovely morning just sitting, chatting, and drinking cups of tea.</div><br /><div></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5774238402989843474" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfUU2qmO4i50KLZy4IXMfYFWKx0W27t01cxWmhlmGrFAAKLwMq7iRa0TBMEPDjvnznl0U-JRdXmDqA8zqICgNt8iRLJphHO1_SChyphenhyphenSu0LK3SaOxHZb_Kx1_EjIypWKMLrxA_MN9W_uTB4/s320/Kittys+Henny+011.JPG" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5774237816435474114" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7o1qaUAYyrcrqZLSvhuWNvbH4HkjkN9QeTQx3eI_Mv_Zic23k1W2FYXfD3fYAYy2_YcdHZHFYsxAJ8oz6XZOU4_bsT8bsbHSNseUtgrH-jGYuWupTjosV-fxRr56MYFHWAj-mBMpVbX0/s320/Kittys+Henny+013.JPG" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5774237405096040578" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYwfFfS760HsZOwr9F5O48csiChSGMXFUdybpjruiYKagMZy5wiiOKFidCDsjfOEYzWSxU8dyLiMUL0Qy0uwLVtSn7-kom74oDglHD-9qohLALj-At2wcvfKJB0Uzg15IX8junxgnQ3lw/s320/Kittys+Henny+018.JPG" /><br /><br /><div>So on our drive down to Auckland we had to pick up a box of stuff that Kathryn's bridesmaids had prepared for her to wear for the night. She looked BRILLIANT! They did a really good job of organising the whole thing. Mum, A Mary, Heather, and Lynne Rosandich (Krystle, one of the bridesmaid's, Mum) arrived about an hour after us so we all had a glass of wine and got Kathryn dressed for her night out.<br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5774234164292891746" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOZVXHO419EZ7dbVOtJVKvE1bcbrB03f9ki8jr2RrTNDWTTbld76dPztCjRkg6Twz184hvs091GLgdCgEDo5mSYYZ5VtdGUJ5rQXFRAkMPvCbdC9JXTuP7bC0A5mDM1HnecagO1Imj-3A/s320/Kittys+Henny+025.JPG" /> <img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5774235750119727778" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiHbp6P6U5WhRFxYeh7OFKPneqye-hHZEe_kh_fYn92fcbgdDxnCDNKaGDiE3bDcFTkAYI2VDTjMA7WomBvP-ZqLDd4B6h-uQrTHknJriJm3Sx6TAnEUol-F_S9oS8HcHC2YGqPikX-Zk8/s320/Kittys+Henny+033.JPG" /><br />We met the others at the wharf in the Auckland Viaduct at 5pm and off we went on a chartered boat for 4 hours of games, dancing, eating, drinking and FUN. It was a really great night out on the water. Everyone had a great time and again, the bridesmaids (Nicky and Krystle) had done such a great job of organising. The boat even had a juke box - I LOVE juke boxes!</div><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5774235070380800226" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKWtdQDRbDIgyNgDWSiYctpMznXQqZ8Xmzjf_Cd1gCAbTAix-rNFKeaS1nRifPJhfuR0drNkVK5SvmQx_jAvGstTuriaQtv3H2t5QHWIdSTNv_LAw2PpABGap-nUNZLDaKuQ2dHJ1pW9k/s320/Kittys+Henny+055.JPG" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5774234548991345426" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjLUdgnXjnaWIpzsGVr0djst7M-1rjkM7U04tpS0vL5nyPOTqtao5iwzIjBG0jEZurNa2m_GdNM9NVmU66ZJYfmq9ff-2vhceJ2Spqkmfu5JgmB9y7jpoZ5A7lCQEX5v4Dkruu1e-m98PY/s320/Kittys+Henny+091.JPG" /><br /><br /><div>After arriving back at the wharf Mum & co headed back to Warkworth while we carried on at a bar in Auckland viaduct. We all got given a sheet of stickers that we had to hand out during the night with things like 'Worst Dancer', 'Best Pecs', 'Biggest Nerd', 'Nicest Eyes'. Silly but still funny. Claire, Averil, and I left around midnight to head back to Kathryn's where we were staying. And Kathryn got in about an hour after us... I think.... I was fast asleep!</div><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5774236288350616114" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV8blBzt9Lkz-V70dl1E68j7daouArrm4uVnRH65KqWVIEvb6kQe0CqLl6o80YDaRJ8_MrEm37Psobw3HfEnWsO6G92iz1GzSHQes7IE-rsQhq7j_ld1SyRD9QwV8LixUkMn78TTsT-ig/s320/Kittys+Henny+098.JPG" /><br /><br /><div>On Sunday we lazed around all day while Moos (Alan) cooked us breakfast and lunch and made us a gazillion cups of tea. On location at Roxy InnI am currently house/cat sitting at Roxy Inn while Claire and Scott are on their belated honeymoon to Port Douglas, Australia. I am hoping it is slightly warmer for them there than it has been here. I'm enjoying spending quality time with the cats and having them share the bed with me. They are such good company.<br /><br />Mum was down in Christchurch for a week at the beginning of the month during school holidays, before jetting off to Queenstown for a few days so see her grandies. It was so nice having her here. We had turns at having dinner at each of our houses so it was a bit like 'Come Dine With Me' but without the scoring at the end. Averil, of course, was on school holidays as well so was able to keep Mum entertained during the days which was nice.<br />On the Saturday we went out to the Raspberry Cafe in Tai Tapu with Scott's Mum, Dad, and Nana for lunch. It was great. Good company, good food, good setting.<br />As usual it was over all too quickly. But it sounds like Mum had a great time in Queenstown.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5769658390739393586" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixEdfY_mL6n-q07Qwdg9VaODeR-wfsFCao3fbhGP6dOxW1yhn9CUoCozh_ook9QOgfOyxAvPblMBCAbGyAlXgyruuS4R3d8TbSSF21uiUZ_ru4ZHjaUfUGR_C5GFssoGBIcZgc3ysrhZM/s320/A.bmp" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5769657713990479554" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-ENKyZ1Gp-BvU06yl9vGFq4Z_bld4hsMKhwU3P-4j0P23EH_qEDIdzKrefGp41b6zbbw6IhoGYO193qXKQwPW1VcKuTBC5ROjliGVLGFdCMJkpotrnguI2XZYygwWvtcaFqBe3-D9YGk/s320/H.bmp" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5769657575040664402" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6eUsCdBVP-T0VAnGZsMXSdNu0MURWjd5VMnCivS9vyP8LCHSmh68SM4l5ka_uQTC_lvP3RsKrou1uwycdZU5cbOQU_XFh3aUw5slAm8kd4cg5poJ4d0cLdd0ypo_fQ-9R75U88ZyZk2s/s320/ACH.bmp" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5769657365768895826" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZn2vk2JITxW1NpngBdyOn3TCbpnFKV03MRcoIz0E1VUSm9sv-PuczwqF7g6Nurc3WE4enlVlbk2e-XcWGDahmdn5aBF9KMHBxSl_Hn6bGmwxyGN14ddHBeE4Cr0lzuUCtScbXNeKC6tk/s320/CAH.bmp" border="0" /><br />I've had quite a few cancellations this month with Intimo parties which has been a shame. There is a nasty flu going around down here and apparently 60% of Christchurch had it a few weeks ago. The hospitals are over flowing and having to send people to other medical institutions to be looked after. I guess it's to be expected around this time of year but the bugs seem to get stronger each year.<br />I have been asked to partake in a fundraiser tomorrow evening for Springfield School (not the same one as Bart & Lisa go to) so hopefully that might make up for the lost parties. Fingers crossed we get lots of bookings for August and maybe even some sales too.<br /><br />Saturday is Averil and Eru's moving day. How very exciting!! They are hiring a truck this time to hopefully move all the big stuff in one trip. It should be all done in a few hours. Apologies for getting the suburb wrong in the last update. They are moving to Wainoni. Translation from Maori is 'wet bum'. Ha ha. He left NZ last Sunday to go and try his luck at trialing for soccer in Poland. Just from his status updates on Facebook it sounds like it has been hard work and, I imagine, a LOT of sign language. Going over to warmer weather would have been a nice break though I am sure. He has travelled with his friend, Jesse, and they had to move from the first place they were assigned due to drug dealers. Sounds like they have a much nicer place now.<br /><br />I had a little op done on my leg on Wednesday. I had been burnt by a hot water bottle when I was living in Edinburgh and the scar had healed into a wart-like bump on the front middle of my ankle. I HATED it and it would turn purple when the weather was cold. So I had it removed. Now I have a big long scar to replace it! It's early days so I am hoping it will heal nicely. A bit sore though. Luckily I had the cats to look after me post surgery.<br />The doctor who did the procedure is a plastic surgeon and specialises in breast augmentation. Renee, being a super nurse, had said that he was a real perfectionist and is VERY particular with his work. So that made me feel better - as long as I didn't end up with a breast on my leg!<br /><br />So, you may or may not remember 2 years ago I was doing Weight Watchers and did ok losing 12 kilos. Then I went for a jaunt overseas and discovered gelato in Italy (Mmmmmm), then I came home and there were earthquakes. My way of dealing with said earthquakes was to sit in bed and eat chocolate for 8 months. SO, understandably the Weight Watchers went out the window and the WEIGHT piled on. Booooo!<br />It's time to start again and do something about it. Getting up off the couch was the hardest thing but I did it and have been on Optifast for 2 weeks with a total weight loss of 6kilos. Happy dance. Optifast is monitored through my doctors surgery and I go in once a week for weighing, ketone testing (to see how well my fat is burning up), and a blood pressure check. I have two Optifast shakes a day - one for breakfast and one for lunch, and two cups of non-starchy veges for dinner with 1T of olive oil. AND at least two litres of water. It is hard going but I am motivated by the results on the scales.<br />I have two dresses to choose from for Kathryn's wedding of which neither fits just now. The wedding is in November so gives me plenty of time. I WILL wear one of them!<br /><br />The great thing about blogspot is that you can see what countries your audience is from. Our massage therapist, Jenny (who has just this year left us to move up to Auckland (boo hiss)) and her husband, Kuni, were trying for a baby and didn't seem to be having much luck. So remembering this tale I bought a little parsley plant for her and gave it to her on my last massage with her. <br /><div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5759303344240050002" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 130px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 114px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgh_RSglaqMG4rkxQdACjf2gNW-dLZEdrOOrCpvnQOLHy3hhLWFspYCzUuXxD54fOPaGr2h8YeKlFs2xPSWTqpmS8hJJs_bZ-xfwi7WwyZ9Hd57YR0jp_HEbLsZ3VfveJpsxg-NZYE95dI/s320/parsley.jpg" border="0" /><br /><br /><div>I got a text a few weeks ago to say that the parsley plant had worked and they are expecting a little baby later on in the year. Hooray!! It will be a gorgeous little baby too, Jenny is a kiwi and Kuni, is Japanese. Kawaii!! (that's 'cute' in Japanese for those who aren't as multi lingual as I am).</div><br /><br /><br /><div>Which brings me to my next story. A few months ago Paula and Kazio (Aunty and Uncle) came for a visit. Kazio brought me TWO parsley plants. Suspiciously I asked him if he knew the wives tale and he and Paula both said yes. Ha ha - funny little people. Anyway, both plants have not survived so well and are pretty much dead. Says it all really, doesn't it.</div></div>The Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01519171020080029269noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5145949095053866991.post-79643602080199938012012-06-18T13:55:00.029+12:002012-06-29T08:41:07.189+12:001 + 1 = 3The biggest news of the month by far is that Claire and Scott are expecting a baby in November. Exciting times for us all. Claire is just starting to get a little bump now (which doesn't even compare to my bump and I haven't even got a baby in there!!)<br />Averil is hoping for the arrival to be on 27th November - her birthday. And will allow Claire and Scott to call the baby Avery if it's a boy or Averil if it's a girl. Oh, the kindness of sisters.<br />They are not going to find out the sex so it will be a surprise. I like that stuff. I have a feeling it's of the blue variety BUT I also thought that when Catkin was pregnant with Annabelle. Even when Gavin said she was a girl I wasn't convinced and wanted to ask him to check again!<br /><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><br /><div></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5758899725871472898" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 144px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 148px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWx-ou6I5qqTY9SzFMErKoWgAcqgp-Db5jicDl8qTv8TmS9mocqp2sQ6S6v_3PJwlauDgysVJ99kt2s2oFBEi6ZFQo9jQIXEXyOg61L0Wp-VNr5dEW4aqqUo45En-uzA0WGV09aXSoyGc/s320/MC900438507%255B1%255D.JPG" border="0" /><br />In other news, Averil and Eru are still madly house hunting in the weekends. Going to open homes left, right, and centre! It's nearly a full time job by the sounds of it! I'm sure the perfect home for them is just waiting for them to find it and then move on in.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5758900319377102610" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 170px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 139px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxyNIgDKcBSo_Jy6CWLrA_mNkAN7fkC5SYIHGcCH8Wsek2cAU0kQpaXzCPpY-8VziBuGH6C3X7ZKzh6b9z4DLICStfFv2N90Uiy7rrwcExQrWUMpyHVCHUVQ-fb-glIgL1ObfK-aCBrfM/s320/MC900382585%255B1%255D.JPG" border="0" /><br />I've had a few Intimo parties this month and am still really enjoying it. My new recruit, Jane, is so close to completing her Quick Step ($5000 in sales in 50 days) to recieve her free sample kit. Her last day for qualifying is Thursday 28th June and she has a party out at Woodend. The hostess has said she is expecting 30 ladies to attend so I offered my services to go and help Jane otherwise she will be there forever!! Even if all 30 ladies don't turn up (which happens more often than not) I can answer questions in the lounge while Jane is doing fittings. I REALLY want her to reach her Quick Step goal as much for her as for myself.<br /><br />I was house sitting out at the mansion in Templeton for 10 days until last Sunday. The first weekend I was there Scottish Jenni from Ngaruawahia came down for the weekend and for the bi-annual Rent-A-Crowd Templeton Pub Crawl. World famous in Templeton! This time we only made it to ONE pub. Ha - not so much of a 'crawl' as a 'sit in'. It was fun with lots of laughs. Everyone stayed the night and Eru cooked breakfast the next morning (bless him). I was on bacon duty though which was easy peasy.<br /><br />I moved back home on Sunday and before I left I was writing a wee note to Grant and Nicki (the home owners) to welcome them back when there was a knock on the door. It was Barry the neighbour with a young German Sheppard. Barry had been working down the back of his section cutting down trees and had noticed a commotion with the chickens. This stray dog had been having a whale of a time chasing the chooks. He managed to kill 3 and injure 2. It was a nightmare!! There were feathers everywhere. I managed to find the two surviving chooks and made a little hay bed in an old laundry basket for them. The rooster, Johnno, had lost most of his tail feathers and was skulking away down the paddock - afraid to come back.<br />I had locked the dog in the shed as Grant and Nicki were due home soon and I thought they might like to ring the owners themselves (the dog was registered with phone numbers on it's tag). Not so nice to have to break the news to them after they had just arrived home from a relaxing holiday in Hawaii!!<br />Nicki sent me a text later that night to say that one of the damaged chickens had survived and will be fine, the other one didn't. Didn't want to know if it was put out of it's misery. The dog's owner lived 1km away. Luckily this time the dog has had a warning and won't be destroyed although I don't like the thought of having to put the dog down, I also don't like the idea of it getting out again and doing the same thing - possibly to a child next time.<br /><br />I had a weekend up in Warkworth last month. After spending two nights with Kathryn (thanks Aunty Kitty!!) and going to the Intimo Showcase, I caught the bus up to Warkworth on the Friday morning. I spent the day with Kristine and William and LOVED it. William is 9 months old now and is just gorgeous! So placid and content. And cuddly.<br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5759186941948079730" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 295px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiu1F66ohVvGpAAyo4J0a7DZOhTi4SYy1ZBLl_YGTxgvJTUGb_WS-hyJu29Odj2DsCSmrxKPI_WDSB4mZs527oyJN3zIeXqjeU447kcmUJm3Rw4EQU6ovbIBIXek7rz7Y5oSzaARB96dOU/s320/Wills.JPG" border="0" /> <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5759187677547484706" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 310px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyCI4u3TbzwxMJ8i-ZnHLgzQB4XNJHMID5gCaI_VpsgFoy46jeWaq3zbNVejfBMKVffciLR6AcB2cCN3Fn1TpjsuQAnOsl8DFEWHhoSoyOKRTXo93O0P7df1af04shjzetZgRxYOiVqfs/s320/Wills+2.JPG" border="0" /><br />I had talked Mum into having an Intimo party and it was a huge success. It was just after the snow so we had to park down on the road and walk up the driveway as it was too icy to try and drive up. Once inside we cranked up the fire and stayed in all night drinking wine, eating nibbles and generally talking rubbish. It was fantastic! Here goes…..<br /><br /><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div>Mr & Mrs Metcalfe have started house hunting. Their lease at Rochester St runs until October so they have plenty of time to find the perfect place for them. They have a small checklist of important things they would like in their new house (bath, fireplace, granny flat or studio a plus!) so have been open-homing lots lately. Houses seem to be selling quickly at the moment in Christchurch - which surprised me after the last few years we’ve had – which unfortunately seems to be driving the prices up a little. Not so great for the buyer.<br />A few weeks ago we all (Averil, Eru, Claire, Scott, and me) went to an open home along Seddon St at number 7 – just two doors down from me. Now, that would have been perfect! It didn’t quite have everything they wanted though.<br /><br />My very first new recruit with Intimo launched her business on May 9th. I felt like a nervous mother waiting up for the text to let me know how it all went. Jane has been doing well and is enjoying her new venture. It’s been a learning curve for us both.Sponsoring someone else has given much more confidence in my own business – maybe I DO know what I’m talking about? And it has made me revisit the basics again which has helped me remember why I started doing this in the first place. It’s so nice to see others succeed when you knew they could do it.<br /></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 222px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5744926072415551170" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYVkTBTmW2uPY_TfckfSGoFJ7Gr8XpsjBZ6tTp66Yl9DvOap73y4kmR_kZ3xW0gkhlx88tccEqYpyhnmvyFRyItl2yBS-yegxjlrQ_QPi0NHsyemEIGvGKpxFdlvoKsxLpRaDm-D_Y76s/s320/e1337503043%255B1%255D.jpg" /><br />One of my 50 Things To Do Before I Reach 50 was to sponsor a child. I decided when recruiting became a reality that for every recruit I sponsor I am also going to sponsor a child. Last week I jumped online and am now the proud sponsor of Elizabeth Nyamanzunzo from Luangwa Area – Chikonwelelo in Zambia. Elizabeth is 11 years old and, due to lack of skills, her parents are peasant farmers and only make around $300 per year which isn’t enough to support their family. Thanks to Jane and Intimo, Elizabeth will have a brighter future. It feels really rewarding to be able to help someone in need.<br /><br />Last week I took Monday off work to support Averil at the Motor Vehicle Tribunal Hearing she had with Nigel Thompson from Nigel Thompson Motors Ltd. For those who don’t know, a quick rundown may be required. Basically, Averil and Eru bought a car last year from Nigel Thompson Motors Ltd. As well as being a car salesman, Nigel Thompson is a little Portuguese knife (refer back to ‘Lessons Learnt In Portugal’ blog entry July 2010 if you are not sure what this means). The car, a Peugeot, never really worked properly since the day they bought it and they went back and forth trying to get it fixed and having a less than welcoming response from NigeThe Knife. Long story short, he was a rude knife so, after Averil had been MORE than patient she decided to try the Motor Vehicle Tribunal to get some sort of resolution. Unfortunately, after submitting both arguments, the case has been dismissed BUT the fact that Nigel Thompson had to go to the Motor Vehicle Tribunal is a little win in itself. So now, the car needs to be fixed and sold on. After the hearing Averil got a very nice email (a complete turn around!) from Nigel offering an olive branch and help to sell the car if that is what Averil wants. So something good may have come out of it after all. I’m just glad it’s over now as it was a very stressful time for both Averil and Eru.<br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 275px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 183px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5744925583160693186" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMvTOBbflcDPdCiggFL4szRWHvrfDNLFNVltZjdWZ3qtEQ9HsJ5GZk5OHr3xSIPvaxCgjMIULEyhqbcs_RUGqXAc7vaLXwrjHqNzdtwSDprUA4_E25EI60rSZjEysI5wMlPIATy2vk_2k/s320/lemon.bmp" /><br />I finally got rid of Young Male Flatmate too. Thank GOODNESS. After I came back from Claire & Scott’s wedding YMF was up in Auckland training for his new job. Originally he had been going up there for a month of training and had decided to move out before going, but then it turned out that the training was only for one week so, being the nice person that I am, told him to worry about moving when he got back from Auckland to save any stress he might endure. Ha – won’t be doing THAT again. When he got back from Auckland he resumed position on the couch and made no attempt to start looking for somewhere else to live – thinking he had right up until May 21st before he had to move out. He was rude to my visitors, had attitude when I asked him to do anything (twice I asked him to clear up HIS 3 day old mess) and I was generally not liking living with him. I was spending a LOT of time around at Roxy Inn or Rochester Street just to keep away. Averil and Claire talked me into having a talk with him so, after being coached by them all morning one Saturday, I went home to confront the beast…. Except he wasn’t home. Shock horror! He had actually got OFF the couch….. but he’d left the tv on which was another annoying habit of his.When he came back I asked him if he had started looking for somewhere else to live. He said he hadn’t. I said it was probably best if he found someone asap. He said ok. Easy. The next day he told me he had found a place and was moving the next weekend!! I held off on my happy dance, knowing that these things can sometimes be performed prematurely. When he brought up the subject of paying the difference in rent I said that if he was out on the Saturday he wouldn’t owe me any extra. Well, he moved out at 11pm on the Saturday night!! Really? Who does that??<br />I am loving going home now to my own little place. All mess is MY mess and I am in full control of the remote…. Unless Claire and Scott come over, then Scott gets the remote while Claire and I chatter. Fair exchange.<br /><br />Oh yeah, I had a birthday too. I turned 38. If I whisper it it doesn’t seem so old! Averil organised a surprise day of fun for me – bless her! We started with pedicures with 4 other friends meeting us at the mall. Then we went out to Waipara to The Mudhouse Winery for lunch. The sun was out so we were able to sit outside and eat our lunch. Then back to mine, where two other friends were waiting, for a yummy carrot birthday cake. Mmmmmmm…. That night was Eion McInnes’ 60th so we went along to that and had a really good time.<br /><br />Averil and I went on another whirlwind adventure to Queenstown on Saturday for the night after getting cheap flights earlier in the year. Such fun! We were there for less than 24 hours so had to make every minute count. Gavin and the girls picked us up from the airport, and within minutes were both chattering away like we were old friends. Um… well, we are! Annabelle brought out her china tea set when we got back to the house and we had a tea party. Catkin had made us real cups of tea while Annabelle made us pretend cups of tea adding imaginary salt, pepper, sugar and milk. Hmmmmm interesting.Hazel is as gorgeous as ever and follows Annabelle around trying to copy everything she does. Bless. Although she doesn’t seem to have any fear and twice jumped off the couch, missing the beanbag she had been aiming for, landing on the floor, crying, then getting back up and doing it again. Oh to be that resilient.<br />Catkin (always the BEST hostess) made a brilliant dinner and dessert and made us feel so welcome, as always. If Sister-In-Laws were flowers, I’d pick her.<br /></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 232px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5744923752974649762" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRa1vUllGIQ4b8yZ2qLPGfMa_3mBZwZT_Ivd76Zads8vnBHV9mUtg5Eknc2FYflGulqsXhWAjzT6WW5xeF8hhCdFpKQg8t2zRwlA19VpXQV7QBCEtWU_JJGr0_YWHxwpDhvE9QSu_rZoY/s320/Qtown+May+2012+001.JPG" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 294px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5744923151781815138" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNMCnXYAXDSNSOcO8M1g2DxyDP41V_cR4-6AoIKjYptITv5RpDfwdpvBuVOVjCFJkXrszv9CfwnqcXpVM5lFWJd3DYBwoiiJBeZN6MRXKXKtKlXIuFTXLzLU1yqERQhvfQpAvxzIRwtMk/s320/Qtown+May+2012+031.JPG" /><br /><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 268px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5744922544691307170" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjnFQzLiYLheUF9v3XN27DvPLbFEfIAqf6vCj633xJqk6cq8IvZB-2CQ5yMGBWA8bYeFnwc0gMe-IU4FhNRtiTnLyH9Dv33pAD5e5nX7PFddnBNGLxQsdviDXKSDyDJT1b5L9rUeMgIJF0/s320/Qtown+May+2012+027.JPG" /><br />We went for a big walk to St Joseph’s School yesterday morning to the Book Fair. It’s me. Danielle. Remember?<br /><br />So sorry to all you readers (all two of you) for the delay in updating. Blogspot has gone and ‘updated’ – which is taking me twice as long to find my way around! I’m not a fan of change.<br />I’ll see at the end if I can work out how to upload photos…. hmmmmmm I could be some time.<br /><br />Anyway, let’s go back to after the last update. Claire and I were about to head North for the wedding. Scott left Christchurch on Wednesday 11th April early early to drive up with his nephew, and groomsman, Trent. On the way through Blenheim they stopped and picked up MORE wine from Lance at his work. Result!<br /><br />Scott and Trent made it up to Warkworth on Thursday afternoon which was pretty good going having stopped for the night on the way.<br /><br />Claire and I flew up to Auckland, also on the 11th. Gavin came down and picked us up from the airport so it was nice to catch up with him on the journey back to Mum and Dad’s. The Southern Barts had been in Warkworth since Good Friday as there was a Mahurangi College reunion on Easter weekend. I couldn’t go up both weekends so Claire and Scott’s wedding won by a whisker. Quite a large whisker.<br /><br /><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5743078515672670642" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhQAv64ClUo5WjnsdzEbJmcYYvcDaaSj8mcyyLi6PITCPBfSrYrVPseiW4ezboFhRz_hrwv8PX06FugE-AWrypyLMZmFYCKYd7fZRPoKKecnHMKqmiIYq6WiCPzA5YzHA5YyzXlOixa3FY/s320/Claire+%2526+Scotts+Wedding+April+2012+483.JPG" /><br />It was lovely being in Warkworth. The two mini Barts were just delicious. Hazel running all around and Annabelle talking up a storm. Loved it! They had an endless supply of Aunties to read and play with them. It didn’t take too long for us to cotton on to Annabelle – if one Aunty didn’t give her the answer she wanted she would go to the next one. Ha ha. Smart cookie!<br /><br /><br /><div><br /></div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5743077952266857762" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbaMGLKogyapR0ojjU73IU1gxMAQxL-n3iRdrtz9ZBkRYi7wCqWas8wwZXJx9qCFOL2mjFXywyNsIxLtVCRqnMFz2zusmO_OT7yiAIPHxpSu8thEYiDb9h6CFBiWp3-kNj5F6-J7CBrDw/s320/Claire+%2526+Scotts+Wedding+April+2012+497.JPG" /><br />The day of Claire and Scott's wedding was amazing - beautiful sunshine and blue skies. Amelia, Claire and I went to the hairdressers at 9am for our hair and make up. Averil came down at 11.30am with snacks and drinks for us to keep fueled up. Then back to Hill Street to get our glad rags on.<br />Our bridesmaid dresses had only just arrived on Friday morning after a LOT of phone calls to the courier company. The dresses were not the correct colour (they were supposed to be grey but were more an eggshell blue) and they were without sashes. Luckily the guys outfits were matched to the dark purple lizzianthus in the bouquet and NOT the grey dressses.<br /><br /><br /><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5743077527572567906" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNvib0fu1BOlT_d1l_l90dO7nyzutQeU7Zy_Dnxlo82VYSXQop9sRzuC0QxXjo5mFBR4T_yqigw2Nfx-8TUZ7qzU-hXUneieuPa0VGGYojDNPlnbwdPujGf7JVgjdiEma62u5UzhyphenhyphenkRpo/s320/Claire+%2526+Scotts+Wedding+April+2012+511.JPG" /><br /><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5743077053664186722" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPxvhPlGgukVwHeUmIaDBV3x2iE1wJauadmh5Bb7n3gwidd9mUmY1w9p4m-H8Pwf5OAqpjctXRre_cCnrNFSs6J0HqMJWlhY2zHBO6zHE8bl2RMHSQaR5eIoaC9E_VAgpGhm2aZM_23Ho/s320/Claire+%2526+Scotts+Wedding+April+2012+525.JPG" /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 270px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5743076466911007538" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhWcCqylNcvAma9EjjtnEPSMencUMTsc2OJtSmJ_GqdomEK7pHgbWOk9NB54dlxzF717u2he_oWDtUEJJnUyKkQFzC4mmv2R_iscW4F1OJh8YmRBOQA7lAEEirZL2d-4SGPRrh6XFBLcuw/s320/Claire+%2526+Scotts+Wedding+April+2012+527.JPG" /><br />Claire looked gorgeous! Her dress fit her like a glove and she looked relaxed, happy, and radiant. She was so excited all morning - just as a bride should be on the day of her wedding.<br />Arriving at the church as quite nerve wracking – even for an experienced bridesmaid like me! The wee flowergirls, Annabelle and Lucy, were waiting out the front with their parents ready to get the show on the road!<br /><br />Monsignor Tonks walked down the aisle first, then, when he had made it to the front, Annabelle and I held hands and walked down together, followed by Amelia and Lucy, and then Claire and Dad.<br />Scott looked as pleased as punch!<br />Annabelle was so good and stayed standing up the front with me throughout the whole service.<br /><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 238px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5743076022906837698" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgI9U2yGVIAFUeiJ9Yutojy6AEVwc_uLFDbP-FHee1t1o_JSpBUIsT8LnEvjgAS5d9KQlnxmyaDd_LDHiAkByUP2fnq3NEEM2q6_SPeQtFqBaAOzdgEsQfdIVNctnZG264BJv6lh1fktF0/s320/Claire+%2526+Scotts+Wedding+April+2012+552.JPG" /><br /><br /><div><br /><div><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5743075497600063378" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicgErKunTMKEe4JZw4pqv-Y3W7a9d2fr0QW_U1f0uQ2y0QeaGOI8VJ7mXgrrH9PsEwqTqt0SGpSn6Ax8EnHh3Nk6Pl9iAy-AwJMNg9il4Kg1TQEaYJXvxZAeap1EYmP_b6GPQ1NaQl-Zw/s320/Claire+%2526+Scotts+Wedding+April+2012+547.JPG" /><br />After the service we had some photos taken around the garden of the hall, then off down to the bridge, band rotunda, and in front of the old Puhoi pub. The photographer did an amazing job and made it all very relaxed. He got some great candid shots of guests too.<br /><br />The evening was lots of fun. Starting with speeches which were heartfelt, short and sweet. Dinner was supplied by the Spit Roast Company and was delicious. Annabelle sat up next to me for the entire meal – she had a starter of peanut butter sandwiches to keep her going until the main was served. She was such a good girl.<br /><br />After dinner, and the cutting of the AMAZING cake (made with love by Amelia), the dancing began. It all started very restrained but after a wee while (and a few more wines) the barn dancing, knee smacking, hoe dancing began. Such fun!! </div><br /><div><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 240px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5743074743762831442" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjf9JMIiFZb54nhvoH4VFt6PIHQidLQ0gU2X220BSorZVR6i45_SUerCt5Opt2g1NBZit0fEeTma7PsoobF4SuEtRSymO0cfnxVwQTZFKEqnQPNnIMq_C7L_FZRVGmW3LiMZHhrzi0AAyM/s320/Claire+%2526+Scotts+Wedding+April+2012+581.JPG" /><br />Claire and Scott got picked up at midnight by a limousine courtesy of Mum and Dad. And the rest of the riff raff got picked up by the shuttle bus and driven back to Warkworth. It was a long but super fun day and night.<br /><br />The next day, after cleaning up the hall, we had a bbq at Mum and Dad’s which was nice to reminisce over the previous nights antics. I think most people had an earlyish night as a lot of people were returning home the following day.<br /><br />Claire and Scott left Warkworth on Wednesday for the drive South, taking their time and enjoying married life, returning to Christchurch on the Saturday. </div></div></div></div></div>The Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01519171020080029269noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5145949095053866991.post-289904935033048222012-04-07T20:22:00.003+12:002012-04-07T22:02:37.106+12:00The Power Of ThreeApril is shaping up to be a good month! This week alone has been the best week ever. <br />First of all YMF has decided to move out. Yippeee! <br />A wise woman once told me how to deal with males. You plant the seed and let THEM come to the conclusion you want with them thinking THEY have made the decision all by themselves. So YMF has a new job starting on 16th April and is being sent up to Auckland for a month of training. When he first moved in and asked why it was only a 3 month rental I told a little bitty white lie and said I had friends coming in May. (Yes, I know lying is NEVER good but it will give me something to tell at my next confession!) So I brought up the moving out date and HE decided to move out before he goes up North to save from paying rent while he's not here. Exactly the result I was aiming for! The countdown is on. Less than two weeks to go. <br /><br />Secondly I had an Autumn Release Intimo party with another of the consultants on Sunday. We had about 10 ladies come along - most of them familiar with Intimo - and had a really great afternoon. I even got my first recruit who is launching her business in May. Yay!! I am SO excited. Jane has been a great customer and hostess of mine since I launched last year and realised that, being in love with the Intimo range, becoming a consultant was the next obvious step. <br /><br />Thirdly, I got an email from one of my besties, Rachael Svenson, last week to say that she is planning a trip down to Christchurch in August/September of this year. Her and her husband Dean decided that once a year they are each going to have a weekend - Dean to Masterton (where he's from) for a boys weekend, and Rachael to Christchurch for a girls weekend. We are going to try and talk Krissy in to coming down too. Fun times! Always big belly laughs when we all get together.<br /><br />There's only 9 sleeps until Claire and Scott's wedding now. Exciting! Claire and I fly up to Warkworth on Wednesday afternoon. I am SO looking forward to going. It's going to be a busy time but I have no doubt it will be fantastic.<br /><br />And the cherry on the top: I checked my lotto ticket from last week at the mall on Thursday night and got a shock to see that I had won $101 dollars! Cha-ching!The Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01519171020080029269noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5145949095053866991.post-7704909702575015322012-03-31T11:24:00.004+13:002012-03-31T11:48:31.700+13:00Walking Backwards In High HeelsI've spent the last month creatively thinking of ways to advertise my Intimo business to get some more bookings. It's been exhausting but fun. One idea I had was to put an ad in the local paper. My ad read:<br /><br /><br /><div><strong>Half Price and Free Lingerie! Interested?</strong></div><br /><div><strong>Ladies phone Danielle now on 021 478 584 </strong></div><br /><div><strong>to find out more or book your Intimo presentation</strong></div><br /><br /><div>Claire and Scott get the Mail delivered so yesterday after work I shot around to theirs to see it in all it's glory. There's something special about seeing your own name in the paper - even if I did put it there myself! The only thing a little alarming was that is was under the 'Adult Information' catergory.</div><br /><br /><div>About an hour later my mobile rang. The call went something like this:</div><br /><div>Me: Hello, Danielle speaking</div><br /><div>Caller: Hi there how are you doing this evening? (In an Asian male voice)</div><br /><div>Me: I'm well thanks. How are you?</div><br /><div>Caller: Good. What sort of business do you do?</div><br /><div>Me: Um... sorry. Who's speaking?</div><br /><div>Caller: Oh sorry, I saw your ad in the paper.</div><br /><div>Me: Ah right. The business is lingerie for women.</div><br /><div>Caller: Ok. Do you do other services?</div><br /><div>Me: Um, (realising where this was heading). No. It's all above board womens lingerie.</div><br /><div>Caller: Ok. Thanks.</div><br /><div>Me: Thanks for calling. (Hanging up, dropping phone, shouting Ew Ew Ewwwwww!!!!)</div><br /><br /><div>I will be calling the Mail today to see if they can move my ad into a more appropriate category. OR turning my phone off between the hours of 10pm and 6am!</div><br /><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 215px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 234px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5725825012882652802" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhI4WijEx8MFT431uQ3aj1xhiKbxVGSKB0cA6xCQYNVABszzkrbjGr_hdLyFXngIA4ByvG3McT8Mcqx2F6ZI8y6aV6r6EjqqmYr7rr2XG_qfguliaKr7iRuWDsr41TT7KDLUNXL9s_5NvA/s320/Girl+on+Phone.bmp" /><br /><br /><div></div><br /><div></div>The Editorhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01519171020080029269noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5145949095053866991.post-42239908226276379082012-03-16T12:38:00.004+13:002012-03-16T12:58:16.907+13:00Seriously?Ok, so you know I have a flatmate at the moment, right? I have slowly learnt over the past few years that just because people are different to me doesn't make them odd.... or does it? I've been VERY patient over the past 6 weeks but am counting down until the 3 months flatting period is up so I can have my place back to myself again. Young male flatmate is ok but a little strange... for two reasons.<br /><br /><strong>Reason number 1</strong><br />Three weeks ago on a Monday morning I was up and getting ready for work. I was in my room, door open, sorting an outfit for the day when I heard my name called. It was Young Male Flatmate. Now, keep in mind that YMF had had a few drinks the night before. The conversation went something like this:<br />YMF: 'Danielle! The most amazing thing has happened!'<br />Me: 'Oh really, what's that?'<br />YMF: I woke up this morning and I can see better than ever! I ran outside and my eyesight is perfect. I turned on the tv and can see perfectly. It's a medical marvel!!'<br />Me: 'That's awesome....... Are you sure you didn't fall asleep with your contact lenses in?'<br />YMF: 'Oh yeah, that's probably it.'<br />There's me with a smile plastered on my face while inside I'm thinking 'Are you serious??!'<br /><br /><br /><strong>Reason number 2</strong><br />After being away house sitting for a few days I come home and YMF is in the kitchen so I stop in for a general chat. During this YMF tells me he has worked out why he has been getting indigestion lately. The conversation went something like this:<br />YMF: 'So you know how I told you I was getting really bad indigestion?'<br />Me: Thinking umm... no. 'Yes.'<br />YMF: 'Well I worked out what's giving it to me.'<br />Me: 'That's great. What was it?'<br />YMF: 'Well, I bought some protein powder off the internet to help with my gym sessions and to try and bulk up and the indigestion started after taking this for a couple of days so I figured it was something to do with that.'<br />Me: 'Oh yes.'<br />YMF: 'So I read the packaging carefully to see what ingrediants were in it and realised it's actually for livestock.'<br />Me: Nervous giggle.
